Titanic DNA Alive From Debris

By John on Wednesday, April 25th, 2007 in Announcement, Wearable.

Titanic DNA wristwatch
The Titanic DNA wristwatch is probably the world’s most expensive timepiece with no inlaid diamonds or 18K gold. By using the coal that picks up from the debris of Titanic as a part material, it makes Titanic DNA become a legendary watch and sold for USD7, 800 ~ USD 17, 3100. The Titanic DNA manufacturer Romain Jerom from Geneva plans to build 2,012 pieces of “Titanic DNA” to commemorate the sinking of Titanic 100th anniversary in the year 2012.

So, which part is containing the DNA of Titanic? It was the black dial surface of the watch that painted with the combination of the coal. Oh, could it be Jack’s charcoal?  ;)

Update: They’ve spent or (better word) invest a lot of money for 1.5kg of “DNA” from RMS Titanic (America).

laptop battery explosion
There is 339 incidents of lithium and lithium-ion batteries “overheating, emitting smoke and fumes or exploding since 2003.”, reported by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission. The greatest issue is no one can predict when thousands of this “time booms” are being triggered in airplanes.

Here, I got some tips to prolong a battery lifespan and tips of safety usage:

    Never repair your malfunctions battery.
Use the original battery that’s brought from the manufacturer or authorize reseller.
Not to charge your battery more than 8 hours per charging session.
Remove battery from your laptop after it has been fully charged and use the external plug-in power source.

Some tips above are useful for cell phone users too. Always check back your manual booklet and follow the usage instruction. I guess you don’t want to ends your days like the Dell laptop above.

MARA (Mobile Antivirus Researchers Association) has compiled the top ten most critical Wireless and Mobile Security Vulnerabilities. The security issues covered include WiFi Access Points, Wireless Zero Configuration, Bluetooth, WEP Weaknesses, Smart phones, PDA and VOIP (Voice Over IP). Most of the issue shows there is an improper security configuration, so better get a qualified tech person for setting up a higher security protection.

1. Default WiFi routers

By default, wireless routers are shipped in an un-secured state. The result of this is that an attacker can easily connect to and configure the router to meet his or her own needs. The risks include changing the DNS server settings to a static IP that is owned by the attacker; or, uploading a hacked firmware version to the router that could put the attacker in full control of the data. Sniffing programs, wireless scanning drones, attack scripts, and more can be easily installed on the router, all of which would go undetected.
