Completely restored by hand, fully tested and ready to plug into a modern phone jack, this model is a polished nickel and bronze Western Electric Company candlestick telephone from the 1920’s. The wiring, microphone and cord are all state of the art to ensure a crystal clear sound, and the phone is even complete with a classic clicking sound in place of a modern ring. I think it’s great to find creative ways to re-use materials, but by making mirrors or masks, aren’t we just perpetuating consumerism. I’d like to see what we could make out of them that is more of a necessity than an ornament.
