Japan’s anime and game characters show out on parade in Akihabara Entertainment Festival in Tokyo last week.

Popular animated film and game characters, such as Pikachu and Doraemon, appeared in Saturday’s opening ceremony of the Akihabara Entertainment Festival in Tokyo.

The festival, organized in conjunction with the Tokyo International Film Festival, is aimed at promoting so-called “Japan contents” such as animated films and video games.

A total of 120 electric appliance and video game software retailers in the district are participating in the festival that will run until Oct. 30. (Mainichi)
