Land Walker Transformer in Japan

By JohnW on Wednesday, September 7th, 2005 in Fun Stuff, Robots, Tech & Gadgets.

Land Walker
Ok, I’m just getting too much of transformer animation’s series . Actually, this transformer “robot” is the World’s first bi-pedal exoskeleton (Codename: Land Walker) developed by Sakakibara-Kikai.

Japanese robotics and machineries manufacturer Sakakibara-Kikai has developed the world’s first bi-pedal exoskeleton, bringing the battlemechs and cyborg technology found in sci-fi movies and novels into reality. This mechanatron is similar to those found in movies such as the Imperial Scout Walker (AT-ST) found in Star Wars. Previously, there was a similar mechanatron also created in Japan by Tmsuk called Enryu. Although Enryu is much faster than Land Walker, it uses caterpillar-like tracks rather than legs to move.

Researchers have found yet another activity people can become addicted to…Tanning.

Depending on which survey, somewhere between 26%-53% of people were considered addicted to tanning.

“Most of the people on the beach know that sunlight causes skin cancer — just like smokers know smoking causes lung disease and lung cancer. But they just can’t stop,” said Dr. Richard F. Wagner Jr., professor of dermatology at University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.

Poseidon pool surveillance underwater camera
Technology saves life with Poseidon pool surveillance system.

    News from australianit.news.com.au
A YOUNG girl has been saved from drowning by an extraordinary computer system that keeps an eye on everyone in a swimming pool. The girl was pulled unconscious from 3.6m of water at the deep end of a public pool in Bangor, North Wales, when underwater cameras spotted that she was not moving and alerted a lifeguard. The lifeguard could not see the girl in the crowded pool but was able to respond to the alert in seconds. It is the first time in Britain that the Poseidon surveillance system, manufactured by a French company, has helped lifeguards save a swimmer from drowning.

Girls, save your time by make up and blog together with Miragraphy mirror LCD. It’s a technology that changes your mirror into a LCD display. ;)

Hitachi announced a new mirror that functions as a computer display. It will be available for purchase in Japan on September 30. It combines a half mirror and a diffusion film to directly display digital information (text, photos, video, tv shows, websites, flash movies etc.) on a mirror surface using a LCD projector.
