Goodmans GMP315 Mp3 Player just look like a pre-historic “creature’s cell” for me. Anyway, the design is great!

The GMP315 is a flash-based audio player from Goodmans. They pack it with 512mb if memory, it plays MP3 and WMA DRM formats, and there’s a voice recorder included. 10 hours playback at $108.

Palm Vein to door key

By JohnW on Friday, August 26th, 2005 in Living, Tech & Gadgets.

Palm vein to door key
As “ma ma” told you, clean your hand or else you can’t get in!

Brilliant technology, but make sure you “update” your palm if you got cut your palm some where.

Palm Vein Authentication Technology is being put to use at the entrance to the Clio Shonan-Chigasaki condominium complex. Designed as a security measure, the hygenic technology allows users to simply wave their palms over the device, which then reads palm veins to verify that the individual belongs in the building. Sound ridiculous? Well, palm veins are apparently very difficult to forge, and false acceptance and rejection rates for the technology are less than .02%. We’re not even kidding.

Crosley Traveler Turntable

By JohnW on Friday, August 26th, 2005 in Media Players, Tech & Gadgets.

Crosley Traveler Turntable
This can be the perfect gift to our grandparent while playing oldies that remain in their memories…
(they’re in my memory too… )

This Crosley Traveler Turntable is a retro 50s throwback that ameliorates the problem of limited playing times and adds a portability bonus. Crosley’s Stack-O-Matic technology enables up to six records (of most sizes and speeds) to play sequentially through dynamic full range stereo speakers. Weighing in at just over 18 pounds and powered with an AC/DC wall adaptor, it’s many times less portable than other options, but costs only $180.
